Raiding rules as per the below. This really is not intended to be a full ruleset, but is trying to give a way to ensure those who raid often and help us succeed are given more chances to upgrade their gear as a big thank you to helping everyone have fun.
Hopefully this hits a nice balance between fairness, and keeping things as quick and easy as possible.
And note the most important rule of all at the end! Keep that in mind, and we can't go wrong.
Raid times
Thursday – begin 7pm UK / 8pm CET
Possibly also Wednesday and sometimes maybe even Tuesday, to be decided on Tues / Wed of each week
Duration – as long as people are willing to raid!
Target selection
Decided on the day, but will be among:
- Shards Landing
- Crystal Caverns
- Eastern Wastes
- Kael Drakkael
- NToV
When raid force and flagging allows, will extend to Tier 2 raids as well.
Other targets for fun may be considered, but likely to be rare and probably better done outside of these raids.
Mains vs alts
Some key mains may be needed to make the raid successful, because their gearing or class is necessary. Those alts may therefore lose out on raid currency and this may be seen as a penalty to those people, because either the alt must be dropped from the raid completely or the alt is on the same account as the main. To mitigate this, people who are asked by the RL to play their main instead of an alt will be awarded a bonus so they can increase their chances of receiving gear for their alt.
NOTE – bonus at the moment to be determined by the RL, but suggestions are welcome.
Levels
Level 100 is desirable, but some classes can contribute effectively at lower levels, or are in greater need in the alt numbers. Therefore it is not mandatory, but if too many people want to join then priority will be given to higher levels at the discretion of the Raid Leader.
Nominated alt
For those in the guild, you will need to nominate 1 alt for gearing. Our goal is to spread around the upgrades across as many people as we can to make the raid force generally stronger. If this style of raiding grows more successful, we may change this to allow wider access to upgrades, but spreading the gear thinly makes raid wipe more likely.
Non-guild attendance
These raids are essentially open raids, and non-guild members will be in attendance. They will also receive attendance awards and gear using the same ruleset, these raids will be run fairly and all who participate will have the same opportunity for upgrades as any other.
Boxing
Boxed alts will be allowed, but the RL reserves the right to refuse if other real players need the space, or the alt could be a risk to the raid success.
Loot rights
People who play their mains in the raid are allowed to bid for gear for their alt.
Attendance % recording and looting
This is not a full DKP system, and to keep loot awards quick and easy, a basic % adjustment to /random rolls for loot will be recorded.
Each raid hour is worth 50 attendance points. A raid hour is recorded in logs as being in attendance and active for >40 minutes every hour of the log. An additional bonus of 1 raid hour is given to people still in the raid when night over is called.
A raid night will typically consist of 2 or 3 hours, so the max award is likely to be 200 per night.
Attendance will cap at 1900 score.
Each person is awarded this attendance and it will be recorded and displayed in the forums.
Loot awards will be done by a /random system, adjusted by your attendance factor. The attendance factor will be whatever is recorded in the forums (please allow for occasional delays in updating as life gets in the way of admin sometimes!)
Winning a piece of loot will reduce your attendance score by 700 points, or reset to 0. Negative scores are not allowed, and if you are lucky and win with low points then well done!.
The random will be : /random attendance 2000, highest roll wins.
Examples:
- New raiders will all /random 0 2000
- Someone with 5 raid hours of attendance will /random 250 2000
Spells will be done on a pure random, no adjustment. These drop frequently, and will end up rotting in due course.
There will be a maximum win of 1 item and 1 spell per raid day, please help share the loot around! For example, if you win an item then you cannot roll on further items that day, but can still roll on spells. You of course still gain attendance points for the raids you take part in.
Remember for those progression type raids, there is raid currency to add to the loot possible to purchase for those in attendance in the DZ.
Attendance points will be recorded in the forums, please check accuracy yourself!
For anything not covered
The Raid Leader will apply discretion if something is not covered in the above, or if there is doubt on the day.
The most important rule of all
These raids are supposed to be fun!!!! Don't get too hung up about the way we raid, the success or wipes, the loots, or anything else. Have fun, relax, enjoy some hard fights and challenges in gear that most raiders have not seen for a long time. A wipe or two is good for us!
But most of all, have fun

Re: Open raids - rules
Small amendment:
- The tradeskill drop to make armour will be treated for loot purposes like a spell shard. That is they are rolled straight random, no adjustment by attendance or cost on a win. Still 1 win per night unless there are more rotting
- Spells do not cost attendance points if you win, but still only 1 spell per night unless rotting.
