Excessive lag problem with Updates etc

As some of you know I had major issues playing EQ with the same PC I've been using for the last 4 or 5 years

Windows updates , blah blah,. all sorts, even to the extent of changing every setting in Eq client INI back to using "tin man" type non luclin models

then Thanks to a friend I was given his 'old' PC a couple of weeks later and it worked
